Kryptonite

Each day I feed Michael on average of about 3 hours, yes that's six times for those of you counting. So I figure that I earn the right to do whatever I want during that time, and I usually use it to blog hop. Last Saturday was no different, I woke up at about 5:00 a.m. sat down in the recliner, turned on the laptop, (which I should mention is Beau's not mine) and started reading through several blogs. I noticed the mouse was acting funny so I decided to shut down the computer and restart it, just so everyone is clear this is what I have been advised to do by my computer genius of a Brother in law. Then the trouble began, first it took some time for the computer to boot up then came the dreaded blue screen that said something about memory being dumped because it couldn't start up windows which is just polite computer talk for "I will now erase all of your documents, music, and precious pictures that are on my hard drive, completely ignoring the fact that you have no backup" panic set in and I reluctantly took the computer to Beau knowing all to well what would come next.

Before I go any further with this story you all should know that this is not the first time I have seen the dreaded blue screen on a laptop, it's the fourth! Yes it is true, I break computers. I don't do it on purpose but they always seem to die while I am using them. I first broke my laptop at Brian Head Resort where we kept all the information on the 2000 season pass holders, then the first laptop Beau's dad so graciously lent us that I used to keep track of the treasury records for the schools PTA, then Beau's shortly after he got it, luckily it was still under warranty so the new hard drive was free. Now I have done it again.

I woke Beau up to give him the bad news, but his reaction was not what I had expected. He only laughed at me and said that I am kryptonite for computers and his dad was already planning on replacing the hard drive before it's warranty is up on August 1st.

So just a fair warning to those of you out there, you may want to lock up your computers before I come to visit.

P.S. Uncle Geoff was able to save all my photos on the hard drive. Thanks, Michael will be so happy to have pictures of the first 3 months of his life. Lesson learned, I will backup from now on.
